Lucy Carr

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Lucy is a Senior Trainee in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy working with adults in Dublin city centre. She holds an MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies, and a BA (Hons) in Russian and Classical Civilisation, all from Trinity College Dublin. Alongside her previous work in the arts and as a university lecturer Lucy has worked extensively in community-based projects with a wide range of people, including migrants, refugees, and survivors of trafficking and sex workers, and brings this breadth of experience into her clinical practice. She supports adults across all age groups experiencing emotional difficulties, including anxiety related to family and intimate relationships, loss and sudden life change, depression, bereavement, sexual difficulties, and trauma.

Lucy has as a particular clinical interest in issues relating to migration and displacement, including cross-cultural identity, social isolation, intergenerational trauma, PTSD and the psychological impact of war and migration.

In her clinical work Lucy gently encourages her clients to tell their individual stories, creating a space in which difficult feelings, thoughts and behaviours can be gradually explored and better understood.
